Abstract
Primary squamous cell carcinoma of the renal pelvis is rare and is not easy to be detected in early. It may be incidentally detected in nephrectomy specimens for nephrolithiasis or hydronephrosis. Recently, we experienced two cases of primary squamous cell carcinomas in the renal pelvis associated with nephrolithiasis. They have revealed combined features of xanthogranulomatous pyelonephritis and aggressive biologic behavior of squamous cell carcinoma with the direct tumor invasion into adrenal gland and multiple metastases, resulting in death at later. A close monitoring and early diagnosis for patients with high risk factors are strongly recommended for better patient outcomes
